Wet N Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Creme Eyeshadow: Swatches and Review

Hey everyone!

Today I have a review of Wet N Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Creme Eyeshadows. I made a big purchase on Wet N Wild's website after seeing a whole bunch of their stuff reviewed by Bailey/DailyBaileyB on YouTube. I haven't been keeping up with Wet N Wild but their website makes it way easier for me than in the old days where you'd have to go to multiple stores to find the product range. This launch in particular really caught my eye because while there are lots of shimmery liquid eyeshadows out there, there aren't that many matte cream shadows at an affordable price.

Did these live up to my expectations? Click through to read my review and see swatches!

Where to Purchase/Details: $4.99. ULTA, Wet N Wild

Packaging: These are packaged in tubes with a doefoot applicator. The applicator makes it easy to dab product onto your lids. I would recommend dabbing it lightly and using a brush or fingers to blend it out so you don't over apply.

From left to right: Camel Back, Off The Grind, Putty In My Hands, and Sand Castles.

Review:

Wet N Wild says:
The MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Creme Eyeshadow has a lightweight formula that provides pigmented, long lasting color that stays put all day. Its silky formula applies evenly and smoothly onto your eyes while transforming from liquid crème to a flawless non-sticky, matte finish.

I really had high hopes for these and wanted to love them so bad. They sounded right up my alley and it seemed like such an easy to use formula for day to day wear. Unfortunately these did not work for me and I suspect it's due to my eye shape. I have oily hooded eyes so it can be a challenge for eyeshadows if they're not formulated well.

I did find the finish to be slightly tacky, almost like it's not fully dry on my eyelids for a few minutes before it went away.

Without an eyeshadow primer, these creased after five to six hours. With an eyeshadow primer, it creased after seven to eight hours. The wear was extended if I paired it with both an eyeshadow primer and eyeshadow on top, about eight to eight and a half hours. I did find that the eyeshadow doesn't wear as well since the eyeshadow is so matte so when it mixed with the natural oils of my eyes, it looked visibly glossy instead of fully matte.

I've seen more than a few reviews praise the formula for its longevity even without eyeshadow primer so I suspect your experience will depend on your eye shape and if you have oily eyelids. For me, I'll have better use for it as an eyeshadow base and not a one and done eyeshadow color.

Swatches:

The eyeshadows are swatched heavily then blended out so you can see how it looks when it's applied on your eyes. It does sheer out a bit when blended out and isn't as intense when first applied.

Camel Back is a yellow toned tan. It basically blends into my skin tone and it's quite difficult to see.

Off The Grind is a cool toned taupe. It's the most "stark" against my skin just because of how cool toned it is. It's quite grey on my eyes but it acts as a good contrast.

Putty In My Hands is a pinky toned rose. Probably my favorite color from the four because I love how it's not too pink and has this clay-like quality to it.

Sand Castles is a warm toned brown. It's a pretty reddish brown, not my favorite but it's wearable.

Conclusion:

As much as I loved the colors, I do wish the formula was more long-lasting on my eyelids. Again my eye shape and type is playing a big role into its longevity so I suspect you'll have a better experience if you don't have a similar eye shape to me. I'll have to be on the look out for more matte/cream liquid eyeshadows out there!

Do you have a liquid eyeshadow you like?

  1. I haven't seen these, myself. However, now I'd like to try Putty in My Hands. I'm actually OK with my shadows lasting over 5 hours. I'm usually only needing that long of wear at the very most. Thanks for giving us generous swatches too.

  2. I have hooded eyes so I am certain these won't last long on me either

  3. I love liquid/cream eyeshadows but almost all are very shimmery. I've been using some Ofra I bought a while ago and also YBF. These mattes wouldn't work for me as an all in one.

  4. You're so right that we only see glitter liquid shadows and not a whole lot of liquid mattes. I hope you find some that work for your eyes!

  5. I was going to ask if these would make great bases for other eyeshadows - but bummer that they themselves don't last too long without a base. That would be too many layers.

  6. It's too bad the formula sucks. They wouldn't last on my hooded eyes or I'd try Off The Grind.

  7. I have oily hooded eyes as well, and trying to get anything to stay longterm tests my patience often! Sorry to hear these didn't work as well as you would have liked.

  10. That sucks they didn't last long. I love cream shadows recently for one-swipe looks.
