Hey everyone!
Today's post is about the MAC Viva Glam Lipstick in Viva Glam II. I went to the mall to get a few things from Target and of course I walked by MAC and walked out with the lipstick (after paying of course).
Maybe it's a reaction to the constant "must buy now" mentality of limited edition collections coming out each week, but I feel like I've been looking at staple or permanent products from a brand in a new light. I think it's cause it doesn't make me feel that "gotta have it now FOMO" rush so I don't put products up on a pedestal only for it to fail if it doesn't live up to the hype. Don't get me wrong, I will still purchase limited edition collections if they strike my fancy but is anyone else starting to feel this way about many limited collections?
The Viva Glam Lipsticks are $17.00 for 3 grams/0.1 oz. You can get the lipstick from MAC, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue.
If you're not familiar with the Viva Glam Lipsticks, they're a range of lipsticks from MAC where every single penny of the selling price (not the profits!) go towards the MAC AIDS Fund. None of this "unspecified amount", it's 100% of the selling price. If you'd like more information regarding the programs that this lipstick supports, feel free to check out the MAC AIDS Fund website.
There is a core line of Viva Glam Lipsticks (currently five shades in this range) along with a rotating limited edition shade done in collaboration with a celebrity. I have Viva Glam II, one of the core colors.
Viva Glam II is one of the Satin formula lipsticks, which is said to have a semi-matte/velvet sheen finish. It's described as a muted pink beige with shimmer; it's a quite flattering mid-tone pink on me and personally I don't see much of a shimmer at all. It's smooth and easy to apply, being nearly opaque on me. I get fairly good wear, about five to six hours. I find it neither moisturizing or drying, but it takes something really drying for me to feel it.
Swatch:
I swatched this lipstick in indirect natural daylight.
If you're in the market for a new lipstick (without needing to actually rush to get it), you'd be hard pressed to pass up a Viva Glam Lipstick and your entire purchase price will actually support a good cause.
Do you own any MAC Viva Glam Lipsticks?

VG II is an old school fave of mine. I'm feeling so nostalgic right now!
ReplyDeleteGee, the color looks so different in the tube than it does on your lips. I never would have thought it was an orchid-ish shade. It's gorgeous on you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty everyday shade this is! And I completely get what you mean by the limited edition overkill!

ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful lipstick and a color I could see myself buying. At this time I am on a no-buy for makeup, but Iove supporting products and brands that donate a portion of the proceeds to charitable causes.
ReplyDeleteThis color looks nice on you, a little more orchid hued than it looked in the tube.
