Hey everyone! Today I have a review of the Glossier Boy Brow in Black. I've been chilling out with my makeup routine, going more for a "more is less" kind of vibe and finding products that make me look put together without needing a ton of steps. One thing that can be done super easily are my brows so I looked towards finding something quick and easy.
Glossier as a brand overall exudes that "effortless beauty" vibe and their products follow along the same lines.I've been hearing so much hype about the Boy Brow that I was simultaneously repulsed (because something with that much hype was set up to disappoint maybe?) and intrigued (okay but what is the truth) so I bit the bullet and bought it.

Glossier says "All brow needs have been considered to create THE brow product: one to thicken, fill in, and groom brows into place. The creamy wax formula is inspired by traditional hair pomade for soft, flexible hold that doesn’t stiffen or flake". The product comes in four shades: Clear, Blond, Brown, and Black.
The formula is very different from traditional brow mascara/gel products because it isn't as wet or watery; it does feel like a thinned out brow pomade. Due to the waxes in the formula, it does an excellent job of building on itself to get a natural looking fluffiness and depth to your brows.
Boy Brow comes in a fairly nondescript white tube with a silver handle. The applicator is teeny weeny so you can get precision but I did find I had to wipe off the tip off the wand before using.
Black works excellent on my brows; it's a deep ashier color that never runs too warm. If you've got black hair, you might want to give this a try. If you're worried about getting the right color match, there's also Clear as an option.
The instructions say to "Apply in short, upward strokes to fluff and shape brows into place" and I think the application is absolutely critical. When applied in long strokes through the brow, it deposited too much product and made it look too heavy in places, which required me to brush up anyways. What I liked about this in particular was that applying upward help to really lift the brows up while making it look fuller, I could almost fake having bushier brows.
With these claims, the proof is in the pudding so here's a before and after (top picture is before, bottom picture is after). You can see Boy Brow helped add a bit of color and shape; you could certainly apply a heavier layer if you wanted an even fuller look.
Wear time for this is also excellent, it lasted 12+ hours even on my oily skin. I've been burned by supposedly long wearing brow products (I'm looking at you Anastasia Dipbrow) so I wasn't sure of Boy Brow's longevity but even I was impressed. I also know that this product works because I got an immediate compliment on my brows from one of my coworkers the day after I started using it, which is enough of a testimonial on its effectiveness.
Long story short, I absolutely love this on days when I want that fluffy brow look in one step. I agree that $16.00 does seem like a lot to be spending on what seems like a brow gel but it's so much more than that and I say that it's absolutely worth it; I have plans to repurchase when I run out (which I hope doesn't happen soon!).

You know this is my #1 favorite brow product. Love your results.
ReplyDeleteI tried this a while back and it seemed like a good product, if you like this type of brow coverage. I still prefer powder though.
ReplyDeleteI've been seeing rave reviews about Glossier. I prefer subtle, thinned-out coverage from brow mascaras, so I should probably start with this one.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is raving about Glossier and I have a list of things i want to buy and try.
ReplyDeleteYASSS! I love Glossier!
ReplyDeleteYour brows look so natural after the product, I love the more natural look vs he IG brow look.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice look. I need more filling in at the start of my eyebrows than this would give me though.
ReplyDeleteMy brows are sparse so I need more of a pencil, but it looks like a great product!
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness, youve mastered the application perfectly!!! I love your reaction to all the hype....lol!!
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that little brush wand! Looks natural and great!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this review! I've been eyeing Boy Brow ever since some of my favorite Youtubers started raving about it, but I didn't bite the bullet yet, because I am overloaded with makeup right now. I absolutely adore how it looks on you! That's natural brow done right, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI love that it adds without being heavy or fake looking. Very natural and I might have to try it! My skin is oily too and others have left me severely disappointed
ReplyDeleteI have purchase boy brow in brown and I am loving it. It is so easy and quick to apply when you are rushing. But I do agree that for the price it seems like the container does not have much. Otherwise is absolutely brilliant!
