Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Stepping Out - Swatch and Review

I Purchased This Affiliate Links

Hey everyone! Today I have a review of the Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Stepping Out. I know most everyone is knee deep in liquid lipstick formulas but I couldn't help but be excited about this, especially when I saw the full color sets that some Bloggers were getting. The name "Always On" name sets up some pretty high expectations so I wanted to see if it was really worth it! Stepping Out is also a really gorgeous color, reminding me of the beige-y browns that were popular during the 90s.

Hey everyone! Today I have a review of the Milk Makeup Eye Pigment that I got in the Sephora Favorites Extravagant Eyes Set

I first learned about Milk Makeup after watching their product videos on their Youtube channel. From the videos they have though and information on the website, the products are meant to be fuss-free and easy to apply. The product line seems to cater to everyone on the makeup spectrum; some products give me this quirky and artistic vibe while others gives off this effortless and fresh vibe.

I played with the Eye Pigment when I saw Milk Makeup at my local store but I wanted to give it a full try and was excited about seeing it in this Sephora Favorites set.

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter in Be My Highlight - Swatch and Review

I Purchased This Affiliate Links

Hey everyone! Today I have a review of the Essence Pure Nude Highlighter, a baked highlighter that's a new addition to the line. I've been on a real highlighter kick and have been snatching up many of the drugstore I could find. I was so tempted by the fact that it was less than $5.00 so I thought it was so worth a try. You've probably been hearing a lot about this highlighter lately and I'm here to say it's worth the hype!
Essence Pure Nude Highlighter in Be My Highlight

Where to Purchase: Essence, ULTA, ULTA stores
Price: $4.49 for 6.5 grams/.22 oz
Do they test on animals?: The company does not test on animals.
Packaging: The Pure Nude Highlighter comes in a black compact with a clear lid.

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter in Be My Highlight

Formula:

Essence says "Bring out your natural glow with this baked powder that has a slightly marbled effect. Works on any skin tone and is perfect for adding a subtle shimmer to your face."

Just looking at it in the pan, you wouldn't think that this would be that much of a highlight but oh man looks are deceiving. This is a wonderful golden peachy champagne that doesn't have chunky glitter or obvious sparkle. It applies lighter on the skin than it appears in the pan. It brings a beautiful sheen to your face but what's amazing is that it layers so well so it's buildable to a sheeny highlight without over accentuating pores. This is what you want for days when you want that "lit from within" look but also when you want to look like light is emanating from your face.

The baked formula is smooth and not dry at all so it blends out well. The formula doesn't kick up a lot of powder as long as you're not using a dense brush so you don't have to worry about picking up and applying too much product. If you're someone who wants a versatile highlighter that can give you both the subtle sheen and more glowy highlight, I highly recommend you give this a try. For less than $5.00, you have practically nothing to lose.

Wear Time: I was able to get 7-8 hours of wear over my foundation.

Swatch:

I do think this is a difficult product to swatch. I swatched it with my fingers on the left and with a brush on the right. Though it looks quite dark in the pan, it applies much lighter like a champagne beige on the skin!

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter in Be My Highlight

Conclusion:

I highly recommend this highlighter, especially if you're still new to the world of highlighters and don't want something too strong. The formula is very forgiving, especially since it's smooth and not powdery so you won't pick up too much product. If you see this in stores, I definitely say pick it up!

What's your current highlighter of the moment? Are you a fan of powder highlighters?

KIKO Milano Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in Golden Brown 06 - Swatch and Review

I Purchased This

Hey everyone! Today I have a review of the KIKO Milano Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow. It's  a cream eyeshadow in stick form for super easy application. I came across these eyeshadows when I looked up reviews for must-have products from KIKO. I'll admit I was already intrigued from the reviews but also because they reminded me of my once loved MAC Shadesticks (a cream eyeshadow that they no longer make!). I just had to pick one up and got it in the shade Golden Brown.

KIKO Milano Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in Golden Brown

Where to Purchase: KIKO Milano
Price: $12.00 for 1.64 grams/.06oz
Do they test on animals?: The company does not test on animals but they do sell in China which has the option of testing cosmetics that are imported into the country.
Packaging: The eyeshadow comes in a sleek black plastic twist up tube.

KIKO Milano Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in Golden Brown

Formula:

KIKO Milano says "Extreme hold for a blendable intense colour. Creamy formula ensures extreme blendability of the line immediately after application. Once set, colour remains uniform and radiant for up to 8 hours without streaking or smudging"

Having heard so much hype from other bloggers about the formula, my expectations were set pretty high and I'm so happy it lived up to the hype. The formula is wonderfully pigmented and creamy and doesn't set too quickly so you have a chance of blending out the color while still keeping the pigmentation on your eyes. If left to set without blending, it can take a few minutes for that creamy/slightly tacky feeling to go away but it dries down much quicker if you blend it out.

This is a formula that doesn't need to be layered because of its pigmentation; I actually found that it was more likely to crease when I did a heavier layer and when I didn't blend the eyeshadow. I apply it directly onto my eyes and use a synthetic paddle-shaped brush (I like the ELF $1 Eyeshadow Brush) which makes it super easy to blend out the edges.

The wear claim is seriously spot on; even with my oily lids I got about 7-8 hours of wear before it started creasing without primer and got 10 hours of wear before it started creasing with primer. Not only is it long wearing but it's so easy to apply especially if you don't have much time in the day.

Swatch:

KIKO Milano Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in Golden Brown Swatch

Conclusion:

Basically this is an excellent eyeshadow stick formula for a very reasonable price and it totally lives up to the name for me. There's a wide range of colors both neutral and bright so I think you'd be able to find one that would suit you! I'm really pleased with the formula and definitely want to get more.

Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Chihuahua - Swatch and Review

I Purchased This Affiliate Links

Hey everyone! Today I have a review of the Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Chihuahua. I know I'm super late when it comes to trying this formula out, I think the first shades launched a few years ago. I'm not sure why but I just never felt compelled to try the formula out but after getting one of the shades in a Sephora Favorites set, it seemed like fate was trying to get me on the bandwagon.

Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Chihuahua

Where to Purchase: Sephora, Too Faced, ULTA, Macy's
Price: $21.00 for .40 oz/12 mL
Do they test on animals?: The company does not test on animals.
Packaging: The Liquified Long Wear Lipstick comes in a squeeze tube with an attached doefoot applicator.

Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Chihuahua

Formula:

Too Faced says "Get the staying power of a stain, the intense color of a liquid lipstick and the high shine of a gloss in one long-wear formula. Using exclusive technology to keep cauldrons of molten lipsticks liquid and creamy, Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick comfortably coats lips in bursts of intense, high-impact, super rich, saturated color that lasts for hours."

First impressions were not good because when I first went to use it, all this clear liquid came out and the product was separated. I had heard that the product could be prone to separating over time but it was my first time using it. After shaking and squeezing the tube, the product started coming out more opaque and creamy and I was able to use it.

The formula is a thin and creamy liquified lipstick and glides on easy with the use of the doefoot application. The finish starts off like a shiny satin (not full on glossy) and dries down to a satin finish that gets more matte over time. It doesn't dry down though, so it isn't transfer-proof.

Too Faced doesn't specify how long it's meant to last, only that it's long-wear and lasts for hours. I wasn't expecting it to last long but to my surprise I was able to get 6-7 hours of wear with no breakdown. I didn't find the formula to be drying or hydrating and thankfully it wasn't sticky either. The formula is very comfortable to wear and not heavy on my lips at all.

Swatch:

Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Chihuahua

Conclusion:

Formula-wise, I think it's a nice alternative to the typical liquid to matte liquid lipsticks out there. It's easy to apply due to its thin and creamy consistency but it's not too messy because of the included applicator. It wears surprisingly well and can be easily touched up or cleaned up.

However, I feel somewhat torn about the product because of the issue I had with it separating. I do like the product and formula, especially since it lasted much longer than I thought it would. But if at the first go it separated, I'm not entirely sure of its stability over time. I'd say give one a try but I wouldn't necessarily recommend all of them unless you're sure you're into the formula and willing to overlook any possible separation.

Affiliate Links

Hey everyone!

Sugarpill is finally launching their long awaited Pro Palette and Pro Pans today at 12PM PST or 9AM EST. The Pro Palette is a refillable eyeshadow palette and the Pro Pans are single pans of their Eyeshadows. If you're someone who wants to be able to carry tons of Sugarpill around, the palette will be perfect for you! Previously, their Pro Palette was only available in limited quantities at trade shows but they're launching it so everyone can get their hands on it.

sugarpill pro palette

The pricing information is as follows:

The Pro Pans are $10 each, except for the foiled shade Money Maker, which will be $13.
The Empty Pro Palette is $20.
If you buy 6 Pro Pans, the Pro Palette is $10.
If you buy 12 Pro Pans, the Pro Palette is free!

The most bang for your buck will be if you purchase 12 Pro Pans to get the free palette. The total for that comes to $120. Buying the Pro Pans save you $3 and lets you put them in any magnetic palette. If you already have your own magnetic palette, no need to get the Sugarpill Pro Palette. You can also mix and match however many shades you like. If you think you'll run through more of Heart Shaped Cookie or Tako, you can purchase multiples!

Also keep in mind that they are discontinuing the Cold Chemistry and Sparkle Baby Palettes, however you will still be able to purchase the eyeshadows as singles.

Shipping is $6 or free for purchases over $100 if you're in the US and scaled shipping prices if you're purchasing from overseas.

I personally don't need the Pro Palette but I do want to get Money Maker and Heart Shaped Cookie (the most neutral that I've ever seen Sugarpill get!).

Do you plan on getting anything from Sugarpill?

Review: Smith Cosmetics 212 Tightliner Brush and 230 Quill Crease Brush Small

I Purchased This

Hey everyone!

Today I have a review of two Smith Cosmetics brushes, the 212 Tightliner Brush (the flat eyeliner-looking brush) and the 230 Quill Crease Brush Small (the white fluffy looking brush). I think everyone in the beauty community on Instagram has heard so much good things about Smith Cosmetics brushes.

I had the opportunity to see Smith Cosmetics in person at PHAMExpo and I was stoked to be able to buy them in person. I originally only got the 230 Quill Crease Brush but then got talked into the 212 Tightliner Brush.

So the question is, are these brushes worth the brand hype? Check out my review of them below!

BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes Palette - A Dupe for the Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadows?

I Purchased This Affiliate Links

Hey everyone! Today I have a review of the BH Foil Eyes Palette. I first learned about this palette on Instagram when it was being touted as a dupe for the Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadows. The palette itself only costs $12.00 whereas a single Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow costs $10.00 I really like the Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadows but I'm down for anything that can emulate it for a fraction of the price.

New Makeup Geek Blushes: Swatches/Review and Formula Comparison

I Purchased This Affiliate Links

Hey everyone!

I've been a little radio silent on the blog for a few weeks after my graduation but that's because I landed a job! The great news is that it's exactly the kind of setting that I've wanted to work in but the bad news is that I have to move so I've been busy prepping for that. I have four to eight weeks of downtime until I actually start since I have to wait for my license, which gives me some time to enjoy my summer before work starts. I hope you enjoy the upcoming posts while I have some free time!

Today's post is a review of three Makeup Geek Blushes I picked up while at PHAMExpo. These blushes are their revamp of the blush formula. I got Heart Throb, Infatuation, and Summer Fling. I also have Summer Fling from the old formula so I'll also be doing a comparison of the old vs. new formula and share my thoughts on any differences I see.

A Liquid Lipstick that Will Make You Want to Wear It: Jouer Long-Wear Lip Creme

I Purchased This Affiliate Links

Hey everyone!

Today's post is on the Jouer Long-Wear Lip Creme Liquid Lipstick. I remember first seeing this at Generation Beauty and initially dismissing it as "another liquid lipstick". I think given the trend of liquid lipsticks coming out, it can get overwhelming. While I was at The Makeup Show LA, I tried the Long-Wear Lip Creme Liquid Lipsticks out while at Frends and oh my gosh it was like a revelation.

Learn How to 2-in-1 with Make Up for Ever Pro Sculpting Lip

Press Sample Affiliate Links

Hey everyone!

Today's review is on the Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Lip in 11 Rust. This Pro Sculpting Lip is new addition to the Pro Sculpting Collection and joins the Pro Sculpting Brow and Pro Sculpting Palette which was added to the range for Spring 2016.

Given that everything lately seems to be all about contouring and sculpting your face, I was curious to see how the concept translated over with lip products. The Pro Sculpting Lip in particular is a 2 in 1 product, with a lipstick on one side and a cream to powder highlighter on the other side. The cream to powder highlighter can be used to accentuate the cupid's bow or the center of your lip to add a multi-dimensional effect to your usual lip look.

I got the shade 11 Rust, which has a muted strawberry red lipstick and white gold cream to powder highlighter.

Go on a Sweet Adventure with Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette

Hey everyone! Today I'm going to be reviewing the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette, their third installment in the Chocolate Bar Palette line.

Initially I had some difficulty getting into th
e palette because the colors aren't organized from lightest to deepest or from matte to shimmery shades. However, I saw Kat's post where she viewed the palette in halves and it totally blew my mind and made me see the palette in a whole different light.

It's not an overly warm palette; there's a nice mix of cooler browns, warmer browns, and some brighter pops of color that make the palette more than the usual brown eyeshadow palette. It's also got the signature cocoa scent that makes it smell absolutely delicious.

Shake Up Your Lips with Lancôme's Juicy Shaker in Walk the Lime

I Purchased This Affiliate Links

Hey everyone!

Today I'm reviewing Lancome's newest lip product, the Juicy Shaker. The Juicy Shaker is Lancome's take on the Korean oil lip tint. Lip Tints are super popular with Korea and Japan and this launch isn't surprising given the popularity of Korean and Japanese innovations in Western cosmetics.

You might be wondering, what makes an oil lip tint better than a water-based lip tint/stain? Oil lip tints tend to be much more moisturizing than water-based lip tints, which provide color but can be drying on the lips. Oil lip tints tend to have a shinier/glossier finish whereas water-based lip tints/stains dry to a more matte or satin finish (which again, can feel drying). If you have issues with dry lips, you'll might prefer an oil lip tint as they can be more forgiving when your lips aren't in perfect condition.

The range comes in 20 colors with each color having its own corresponding scent. I have the shade Walk the Lime, which is scented like a lime sherbet.

Check out my review and swatch of Walk the Lime.

Hey everyone!

Today I have a review of the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint in Beige Naturel. I've been looking for something lightweight to wear, that manages my oily skin, while also providing a bit of coverage. FOTD: Week in Review/to Come Vol. 1 - Warm Brown Smokey Eye and Red Gradient Lip

Hey everyone!

Today's look is inspired by a realization I had recently. I have this tendency to review products and then move onto the next thing without using what I've reviewed as much as I would like to. In an effort to actually use up products, I thought I would start doing a Face of the Day (FOTD) using including the products I've reviewed during the week or will be reviewing soon. Kind of as a refresher for things I tried out and a preview for things soon to come.

Today's face will be featuring two products I reviewed and three that will be coming up. If you missed out, I reviewed the NUDESTIX Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencil in Belle and Royal. Reviews for the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint, Lancome Juicy Shaker in Walk the Lime, and the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette will be posted soon!

I decided to do a warm reddy brown smokey eye look and tried my hand at a gradient lip with the NUDESTIX lip pencils topped with the Lancome Juicy Shaker for a glossy finish.

For the eye look, I used Bordeaux from the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette as the main color and blended it out with a mixture of Pecan Praline and Almond Truffle.

Products Used:

Jouer Matte Moisture Tint in Beige Naturel
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed
City Color Cosmetics Timeless Beauty Palette (the middle highlight color)
Milani Eyeshadow Primer
Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette (Bordeaux on the lid, Almond Truffle + Pecan Praline to blend it out, Divinity as the highlight
Essence Make Me Brow Gel Eyebrow Mascara in Browny Brows
NUDESTIX Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencil in Belle and Royal (Belle applied around the edge, Royal applied in the middle and blended out)
Lancome Juicy Shaker in Walk the Lime

Hope you enjoy this week's eye/face makeup and I'll be posting reviews on Jouer Matte Moisture Tint, Lancome Juicy Shaker in Walk the Lime, and the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette soon!

Hey Everyone! Today's swatches and review is on the NUDESTIX Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencils. They're a recent addition to the NUDESTIX line, promising a matte finish with a comfortable wear.

I had the pleasure of meeting both Ally and Taylor at Generation Beauty and was so blown away by their effortless makeup look. It looked so easy to wear but stylish at the same time. The makeup they wore really enhanced their features instead of trying to obscure them.

Given their makeup style, it wasn't surprising to see it translated into these lip + cheek pencils. The pencil concept makes it easy to apply and stash colors as you need it and reapplication is a snap.

Double Duty Skincare: Tackling Anti-Aging and Acne with Paula's Choice Skincare

Sponsored

Hey everyone!

Today I'm going to be talking about my skincare routine and how I've been using Paula's Choice to target all my skincare woes. I finished a bottle of the 2% BHA Gel and was already using their Resist Ultra Light Antioxidant Serum (which I love!) when I got the opportunity to try out more from the brand.

My concern with my skin as I'm heading toward the latter part of my mid-twenties is acne and anti-aging while balancing having oilyish skin. Based on my consultation with the Paula's Choice Representative, they suggested the Resist Advanced Kit for Wrinkles and Breakouts for Normal to Oily Skin which targets both anti-aging AND acne. They have a Resist line for Normal to Dry Skin.

The kit contains the Resist Perfectly Balanced Cleanser, Resist Weightless Advanced Repairing Toner, Resist Daily Pore-Refining Treatment 2% BHA, Resist Weekly Retexturizing Foaming Treatment 4% BHA, Resist Ultra-Light Daily Antioxidant Serum, Resist Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50, Resist Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator.

Hey everyone!

With so many makeup companies jumping on the liquid lipstick/long wear lipstick trend, the issue of makeup remover is ever more important. Typically you'd use an oil-based remover to get rid of the lipstick but I highly suggest trying the NYX Be Gone! Lip Color Remover.

You might be thinking "why bother, I could just use coconut oil or a makeup wipe". While that's true, coconut oil can cause breakouts around your lips if you're acne prone and it can take multiple makeup wipes get the color off. This makes the process so much easier.
