When I went to The Makeup Show, I already had it in my mind to get ahold of some NARS Audacious Lipsticks. Considering the hype surrounding the formula, I needed to get the lipstick for "research purposes". I purchased the shade Anita and received the shade Anna courtesy of The Makeup Show.
Click thru to read my thoughts on the formula and see my swatches of the lipsticks! Are they worth the price tag?
Price: $32.00 for 4.2 grams/.14 oz
Do they test on animals?: The company does not test on animals.
Packaging: The lipsticks come in a weighted square tube with a magnetic closure. This is not cheap packaging. It doesn't feel light at all.
If you want to see the magnetic closure in action:
Anita
Anita is described as an "antique rose".
Anna
Anna is described as a "smokey rose".
If you're wondering about the differences between Anita and Anna, here's a comparison photo. While Anita is more pink, Anna has a hint of purple. Both are truly beautiful colors.

Formula:
NARS describes it as "Modern lipstick so shamelessly seductive in touch and texture the sensation is audacious. Unadulterated luxury glides on like satin across skin with single-stroke coverage. A spectrum of 40 shades for unstoppable impact. One-stroke, full-coverage creamy wear, luxurious texture and enriched with ingredients to smooth and nourish lips, and long-lasting"
For $32, the lipstick better be good right? I really want to say that these lipsticks are overhyped but sadly I can't. I really like the formula, you do get one stroke full-coverage from each of the shades. This ain't lacking in pigmentation. The lipstick has a creamy finish, not matte or super glossy. It's not sticky either. For me, the lipstick doesn't feel heavy or drying while wearing. It also doesn't sink into my lip lines.
The lipstick doesn't skip when you try to apply it, it smoothes on quite easily. You can apply it from the bullet with no difficulty, but you may want to apply it with a brush to get the edges evenly.
Wear time was 5+ hours before touching up. Since it's a creamy finish, it's not transfer-proof.

Swatches:
All swatches done in natural daylight with no flash. The lipstick was applied straight from the tube.
Anita:
Anna:
Lastly, here's an arm swatch comparing Anita and Anna. I do think they look very similar when swatched side by side but you can tell that they wear very differently on.
Conclusion: I'm super pleased with these Audacious lipsticks and to me, they're worth the hype. An incredible pigmented formula with an ease of application. No dragging in sight and the packaging is super luxurious.
Rating: A
If I Could Only Pick One:
If you're on a limited budget, you should definitely try one out first before deciding to get more. Of the two, I think Anna is more unique but I have heard rumblings about Colourpop Lumiere being a dupe for it. I don't own Lumiere so I can't attest to the similarity but I think Anna is still gorgeous. I'll be wearing both out for sure.
Have you tried the NARS Audacious Lipsticks yet? Is there one you're thinking about getting?
