Last week was the Professional Hair and Makeup Expo, or PHAMExpo makeup trade show. I had the pleasure of attending the show both days, on Saturday and Sunday and wanted to show my collective haul from the show. My recap of the show itself is posted on Phyrra's blog so feel free to read that first and then check out what I got here!
This looks like a massive bunch of products but I think it looks so much more foreboding all gathered up together like this. I did receive a few things courtesy of the show or brand owners so the damage isn't quite so bad. I tried to primarily stick to my wishlist I decided on before the show and for the most part, I was successful.
To be kind to your bandwidth, the post is going to be under a cut!

My most anticipated purchase was from Sugarpill Cosmetics. I was literally the first person at their booth at 8:30am when the Pro Hours started but there was still a massive horde that gathered around me so it took ages to check out. I purchased for myself one of the limited edition colors in Asteria and one of the Sparkle Baby colors in Kitten Parade. If you didn't get to go to the show, you may want to keep your eye on the blog ;) You can check out my swatch and review of Kitten Parade here.
I can't rave about this BonBliss Scrub-2-Go enough! I've literally been waiting months for them to be at PHAMExpo and I got my tin of Mango Sorbet. If you've ever been around me, you'd know I'm positively obsessed with anything mango-scented or mango-flavored so I've been sniffing these scrubs nonstop. I got the accompanying Body Truffle for free courtesy of the owners. There's a store selling the tins close to my school so I'm so going to get more when I run out. (review on the scrubs coming up soon!)
Ah Banana Powder. Thanks to Kim Kardashian's makeup artist, this powder has been so hyped up. On my skintone, it's melts into my skin and isn't too light or obvious. I'm still testing it out to see if it fairs well with my skin type.
I had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners of Morphe Brushes, Linda, and she was really nice and let me and my friend Dawn/Make Up By Siryn pick out a few brushes to go with an eyeshadow palette of our choosing. The retractable lip brush at the bottom is so cool; it opens by sliding it up and I'm honestly so amused by it, I want to get more.
I was really excited to see Saucebox Cosmetics at PHAMExpo. I've met the owner Alla about three times now and was gifted three of their eyeshadows to try out. Their Midnight Blossoms and Creme de la Creme palettes were super pigmented when I was swatching them so they're worth a gander!
Although she hasn't done videos in a while now, Brooke/SayAnythingBr00ke is still a source of inspiration. After seeing this lip look from her First Date Makeup Tutorial, I was compelled to purchase Memento Lip Tar. I've already made this into a lip pencil, it's so beautiful.
These lashes from Flutter Lashes were such a huge impulse buy, they were 50% off at the show along with that "trade show shopping mentality" that led to these coming home with me. Can I partially put the blame on Dawn/Make Up By Siryn since her purchase spurred me to make a purchase too? This is the Veronica style.
I'd like to end this haul post on a high note with this glorious palette by Senna Cosmetics. This is the Haute Nudes palette in Mystic, a refreshing set of cool toned pinks and neutrals that I also got in the VIP/Pro Lounge gift bag. I haven't tried all of the palette yet but I can tell you that that black eyeshadow is crazy pigmented, I'm not even kidding.
I've got a huge backlog of products to review now but I'm so enthused to try them all. Luckily, trade show season is pretty much over for me for a few months so my wallet gets a break from large purchases like this.
What would you like to see me review and possibly do a FOTD with?
Nice haul! How did you make the Lip Tar into a pencil?
ReplyDeleteThis makes me want to dribble a bit, so many goodies!

Nice haul, is that banana powder cruelty free? cant find any info about that brand,
ReplyDeleteI like the neutrals in the haul, was surprised to read that the round containers and not blushes what was my first trough when I saw the package and colors
You walked away with some nice items! I'm sure you're dying to try it all. I read everything over on Phyrra's blog, too. I'm glad the lines were not as horrendous as IMATS. I wasn't too thrilled with how compact things were at The Makeup Show Chicago.
ReplyDeleteI was just about to ask the same thing! I've been Googling it for the last ten minutes and haven't found a guide anywhere yet. I'd love to make some to match my favourite lip tars :D
ReplyDeleteIf you want to look back a few posts, I mentioned how I did it! I'm actually in the midst of doing a video tutorial to show people how to do it.

ReplyDeleteI can't either on Ben Nye. Apparently their catalogs say "never any animal testing" but I'm not sure if they're selling in China! If I can get more information I'll comment back
ReplyDeleteI love the look of the Senna palette!
