Hey Everyone! Today's swatches and review is on the NUDESTIX Intense Matte Lip + Cheek Pencils. They're a recent addition to the NUDESTIX line, promising a matte finish with a comfortable wear.
I had the pleasure of meeting both Ally and Taylor at Generation Beauty and was so blown away by their effortless makeup look. It looked so easy to wear but stylish at the same time. The makeup they wore really enhanced their features instead of trying to obscure them.
Given their makeup style, it wasn't surprising to see it translated into these lip + cheek pencils. The pencil concept makes it easy to apply and stash colors as you need it and reapplication is a snap.
Continue to see my thoughts on the formula and swatches!
Where to Purchase: Beautylish, Sephora, Urban Outfitters
Price: $24.00 for 2.8 grams
Do they test on animals?: The company does not test on animals.
Packaging: The lip + cheek pencils come in a rectangular metal tin with a mirror on the inside of the lid. The pencils are sharpenable and each pencil comes with its own sharpener. I love that the pencils have an accompanying sharpener because it can be a real pain to find one for your lip pencils.
This is Belle, described as a "pretty perfect plum nude"
This is Belle, described as a "pretty perfect plum nude"
This is Royal, described as a "classic bold red"
Formula:
NUDESTIX says the product is a
"soft, creamy non-drying matte lipstick, lip liner, and cheek blush all-in-one pencil. An uber longwearing formula that is water-proof, kiss-proof, and non-feathering for up to 6 hours. Intense pigment load and color provides maximum smooth coverage"
I plan on wearing this primarily as a matte lipstick and lip pencil. Overall it's got a great creamy formula that allows you to apply it with minimal effort. It's opaque and easy to apply. As a lip pencil, there was no tugging or dragging on my lips and I was able to get precision around my lip lines. There was no feathering when I wore it and it was neither drying or moisturizing. It pretty much hit all the claims as described.
Wear Time:
As a lip pencil, I was able to wear it for 6 hours without any feathering which is exactly as claimed. I also found that it was mostly transfer-resistant and made for easy wear throughout the day.
Swatches:
All swatches taken in natural daylight.
This is Belle. Belle has become a great everyday pinky beige lip color for me. Easy to apply and not too loud.
This is Royal. If you're looking for that deep intense pinup red, you'll find it in Royal. It's amazing.
Conclusion:
I absolutely enjoyed the creamy smooth application and the matte finish. I was wary that this might be drying or tug as I applied but thankfully this wasn't the case. There's also a great variety of nude and bold shades for people looking for either. The fact that you have to sharpen the pencils may be a deal breaker but thankfully they give you a pencil sharpener with each tin so you don't have to go scrounging around trying to find a sharpener that will fit. I say try one out!
Have you tried anything out from NUDESTIX or are you not into pencil products that you have to sharpen?

Wow, these are stunning. I just read a review of some new Laura Mercier cheek and lip sticks, though they are much more glossier, and I always opt for a matte finish. So these are a lovely alternative, thanks for sharing x

I love both shades, and that red looks particularly fabulous on you, Mai! I don't mind sharpening pencils. It's rare that there is a matte lippie that my super dry lips can wear, but these sound promising!
ReplyDeleteThey were so nice at Gen Beauty! Definitely a highlight from the event. Love the colors on you.
ReplyDeleteThe Royal color is stunning!! I just purchased a few lipsticks but it's so pretty......
ReplyDeleteI love both these shades on you!
ReplyDeleteLove that it's not drying - I have that issue with a few products I own. They look great!
ReplyDeleteBelle is right up my alley but you look amazing with the red one on.
ReplyDeleteBelle is gorgeous! Though, I'd need both in my life anyway because SO PRETTY!
ReplyDeleteI own these, great quality I must say!!!!
ReplyDeleteooh I love both of them, but Royal would look best on me.
ReplyDeleteBelle looks like my kind of shade
ReplyDeleteI like both of these on you, but you are wearing the h#ll out of that red. You go, girl. I do prefer pencils that I can twist up instead of sharpen, so I hope Nudestix makes some twist-up options.
ReplyDeleteOhh I love Belle! That's perfect for not wanting a ton of color - but still having somethign on
ReplyDeleteI have been dying to try these! They look amazing!
